Athletic Facility Rennovations Finally Announced

If you haven't checked it out alread I would highly reccomend that you find your way over to Vucommodores.com and check out all the conceptual drawings/pictures/interviews concerning the stadium and facility upgrades that are currently underway. On first blush I think everything looks incredible, and I'm really excited to see them turn the Jess Neely-Nathcez Trace block into a bastion of Vanderbilt athletics. So far the upgrades have included new paint (that to my eyes looks NOTHING like the sissy cream color that complements the Work Release Orange at Neyland) and a giant "VANDERBILT" on the back of the press box with a giant Star logo on each side...

It

Looks

Awesome

There has also been paint work done inside the stadium, incorporating more black around the edges of the stadium and thereby increasing the intimidation factor. Other points of excitement of the five-phase $55 million upgrades include new synthetic playing surfaces at the John Rich practice facility and Vanderbilt Stadium, concourse restructuring/creation along Jess Neely and Natchez Trace to create a unified look among Vanderbilt's various athletic venues, permanent outfield seating at Hawkins Field and the possibility of the reintroduction of seating in the north endzone of Vanderbilt Stadium.

So, my message to you faithful BCD readers is to pony up and help The NCC complete all these much needed rennovations. Furthermore, for these rennovations to really accomplish anything we as fans have to go out to the games and show our support.

I like to think of these rennovations as David Williams making a snowball and giving it a little push to get it rolling. It is now up to us to take care of the snowball and keep it growing.

As Always,

Go 'Dores!
