Sad Day for the 'Dores

Pedro Alvarez's solo home run in the bottom of the ninth proved to be too little too late as Vanderbilt's bid to repeat as SEC Baseball Tournament champions ended last night in Hoover,AL Faced with the difficult task of beating the Rebels of Ole Miss twice in one day, the Commodores took the first game with an offensive explosion in the third inning and some solid relief work from Brett Jacobson, Richie Goodenow (who I was REALLY impressed with) and Russell Brewer to win 7-4.

Unfortunately, the 'Dores just simply didn't have enough in the tank to catch up with the Rebs in game two, eventually losing 8-7. Pedro, who had been a combined 2-20 during the SEC tournament hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to close the margin to one, but the Rebels were able to collect the final two outs and advance to today's match up with RED HOT LSU. Word on the street is that with a win today the Tigers will have played themselves into hosting a regional next week during the CWS.

Now the team awaits their seeding in the College World Series, which begins May 30th.

As Always,

Go 'Dores!
