Boom! An Update!

Mom! Look at me! I'm updating more than once every two weeks!

I'm somewhat in the sports doldrums right now. I've got a couple Vandy sports related rumors to propogate, my thoughts on the NBA playoffs, and that's about it.

First,
The upgrades/rennovations to Vanderbilt Stadium. Yes, they are happening. The first phase began earlier this month. I haven't seen them myself, but apparently the drab battleship grey on the outside of the bleachers has been swaped out for a gold/cream color. The folks over on the VandyMania message board have gotten their panties in a wad over the new color scheme because "it looks like Neyland". Now, I must preface this statement by reitterating the fact that I have not seen the new color, but as a person who has seen both Neyland and Vanderbilt stadiums inside and out I'm here to tell you that it's going to take more than a fresh coat of paint for me to get upset about us "copying" UThug. Neyland stadium seats well over twice the people Vanderbilt Stadium does, and they're really not even built in similar styles. Neyland is a humongous redneck infested dump, and Vanderbilt Stadium is like a high school stadium on steroids. Fortunately, they're both fun places to watch SEC football. I'll try to get over to campus in the coming weeks and document the construction with a picture post.

Also,
The football team will be sporting new uniforms for the 2008 season. I spoke with CB Alan Strong on the issue, and he wasn't able to provide me with any information other than that the team had been told they were getting new jerseys. It has been speculated that the team will be going with something similar to what Mizzou wore last year, especially with the tighter fitting jersey material, piping around the shoulder pads, and something across the chest above the numbers. More on that later as well.

Furthermore,
Baseball travels to Florida this weekend for a 3 game series. The 'Dores need to win at least one game to guarantee a trip to Birmingham. I'm hoping for another sweep as I would hate to see us back into the SEC tournament.

Finally,
If you haven't been watching the NBA playoffs then you've really been missing out. I heartily reccomend watching any of the series still going. I'm really pulling for the Cavs to upset the Celtics and the Jazz to beat the Lakers. I'm really worried about my pick to win it all as the Hornets are giving the Spurs all they can handle and more. There have been some fantastic individual performances, as well as some solid team efforts (or as much as you can expect from the NBA) and the games are always entertaining.

As Always,

Go 'Dores!

p.s.
I will be travelling to Las Vegas, NV tonight and returning the middle of the next week, so don't expect any more updates before then.
