The Dog Days of Summer

As I watched the final minutes tick away in the UEFA Euro 2008 tournament (that was the annoying soccer game on ABC yesterday afternoon for those of you not hip enough to be following the tournament) I realized that a metaphorical barren wasteland of sports nothingness lay in front of me until August when I am officially allowed to get excited about college football again. Sure there's the MLB, but no one really watches that until September and I just can't bring myself to follow Major League Soccer with any sort of real enthusiasm.

I think I'm going to bury myself in research for the next couple of days in order to prepare for my First Annual 4th of July SEC Spectacular in which I will release an exhaustive and hopefully humorous set of predictions based around the upcoming SEC football season, so be looking for that.

Also,
Congratulation to Shan Foster on being the 51st overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft. The Dallas Mavericks elected to choose Shan with their only pick in this years draft, and they feel like they got a steal. While skeptical at first, Mavericks fans seem to be warming up to the idea of the reigning SEC Player of the Year dropping 35-foot bombs over the heads of helpless defenders.

As Always,

Go 'Dores!

Shan only gets one "congratulation?"
