KICKOFF 2008: SEC FOOTBALL MEDIA DAYS

It's that time of year again folks! Yes, you heard me correctly, for the next three days over 800 members of the media will converge upon Hoover, AL to ask the head coaches and two player representatives from each of the league's 12 schools any and every question they can think of. Head coaches will also take this opportunity to make broad and ambiguous statements concerning the upcoming season and insist that this year's team is one of the best they've ever coached. Players will take this opportunity to wear ridiculous suits and do their best to answer questions that may be totally irrelevant to anything concerning the 2008 college football season.

Instead of posting my predictions for the upcoming season (which are almost complete, they just need a little more time to marinate) I will be posting my bold and fearless picks for Media Days 2008. Here's a link to streaming audio and video, and a schedule is posted below,

Phil Fulmer tips the scales at nearly 2 and a half Tommy Tubbervilles.

Tim Tebow is asked at least 3 questions concerning his choice not to participate in the Playboy All American photo-shoot.

Steve Spurrier takes at least 2 pot-shots at fellow coaches. Also declares that he will be selecting his quarterback this season by dropping Tommy Beecher and Chris Smelley off in the middle of the woods. The first one to make it back to Columbia gets the job.

Les Miles will say something stupid, then flash his freshly polished National Championship ring. Also announces that LSU will not have a starting quarterback this year.

Houston Nutt further solidifies his position as the "Steve Spurrier of the SEC West".

Bobby Johnson will "feel confident" in every aspect of his team, despite losing the SEC's All-Time reception leader and his entire offensive line. Also maintains his inexplicable faith in Bryant "The Goat" Hahnfeldt.

Nick Saban is asked no less than 3 times a question containing the phrase "Bear Byant would've done it this way...". Several reporters meet with Saban in private concerning the whereabouts of Jimmy Johns, and his current inventory.


In all seriousness, this is our first real look at the upcoming season, and hopefully we will be able to glean some valuable information from all of this.
