Music to my ears

That sound you may have heard earlier today was the Kentucky Wildcats' NCAA tournament bubble popping. While many analysts have retracted their previous statements about this year's wildkitties team being one of the worst in UK history and have even penciled the 'Cats in for an at large bit, I stuck to my guns.
It looks like the basketball gods felt the same way as UK national freshman of the year candidate, and SEC freshman of the year front-runner, Patrick Patterson will be sitting out the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his left ankle. Couldn't have happened to a better team. The Crippled 'Cats will now have to take on the extremely pissed off UT team in Thompson-Boling on Sunday without the services of their only legitimate post presence.

While I obviously have had the 'Cats written out of the tournament since December, I'd like to hear what ya'll think. I'm also curious as to who else from the SEC (outside of Vandy and UT) you think will make the field of 65. Discuss.

Go 'Dores!

Patrick Patterson's emergence as a formidable player as a freshman was Kentucky's only real shot at finishing the year strong. Finishing on a solid note was their only hope at swaying the votes in their favor. Without Patterson on the floor the Wildcats stand little to no chance against Tennessee. As far as the other SEC schools are concerned I really think it's a toss up. Arkansas has a legitimate shot, but need to win their last 3, including Vanderbilt in Fayetteville, to really secure their spot. Florida is a lock along with Mississipi State. Ole Miss started the year strong winning their first 13 games, but fall off in a big way, losing 9 of their last 13. I think it would look really good if the conference could get five or six out of the seven into the field of 65.
